Although not a comprehensive review, the Elise is a feature an updated look for the latest model year. In the two front seats receive a revised front fascia, complete with a new look headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED direction indicators. The Elise also features a new rear bumper and bonnet, as well as new wheel designs.
The big change is the addition of a new basic model, dubbed simply the Lotus Elise. The base model Elise comes with a 1.6 liter engine that develops 134 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. Still on a par with many models from entry-level compact, lightweight Elise ensures overall performance is not compromised, with both doors still able to run from zero to 60 in just 6 seconds. Top speed is limited to 124 mph.
A step above the base Elise Elise R is the model, packing a 190 horsepower 1.8-liter engine – able to take the Elise from zero to 60 in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 138 mph.
The Elise SC is on top of the range version with a 220-horsepower mill 1.8-liter R Elise. The Elise SC can reach 60 from a standstill in just 4.3 seconds and top out at 145 mph.
The U.S. market will only have access to 1.8-liters, with the three models in the world with a gearbox new six-speed close ratio.
