2013 Dodge Viper. There were rumors last year that Viper may only be the Alfa Romeao 8C Competizione with a Viper face. Luckily, this year Chrysler’s official Ralph Gilles denied that and stated that the new Viper “is not based on anything else”. FIAT is only to advice. Gilles also reassured that “there won’t be a part of the car that’s untouched” and that the 2013 Viper will be “a more forgiving car to drive and accessible to more people” – this means adding modern control technology.

According to the Detroit News reports that Chrysler officials confirmed the production of the 2013 Dodge Viper, which will hit dealer showrooms by the summer of 2012. In addition, Chrysler also confirmed that the 2013 Dodge Viper will not be based on the Alfa’s supercar like the rumors had suggested.

Dodge CEO, Ralph Gilles, said that the new Viper “is not based on anything else” and any similarity with the Alfa is unintentional. He also added,“Where the cabin is, relative to the wheels, is unique. The Viper cabin is very rearward and the hood is very long. Few cars in the industry are designed with those proportions anymore.” Ralph Gilles also reassured that “there won’t be a part of the car that’s untouched” and that the 2013 Viper will be “a more forgiving car to drive and accessible to more people”. Though he ended short of expressing whether or not the outdated 640 horsepower V10 will make it through the vehicle’s revival.

Gilles has also told us that the design for the 2013 Dodge Viper is inspired by a naked woman on a beach. With the exception of a coke-bottle body shape, we are intrigued to see how she comes across in automotive form. With this potentially racy new design, Gilles and Dodge hope to capture the hearts and pocketbooks of people under 45. Gilles and his bosses at Fiat want to lure in buyers who would otherwise be saving up for something out of Porsche’s model line or from Chevy’s stable of Corvettes. Speculations about the 2013 Viper using a Ferrari-sourced engine have officially been ruled out.
